If the bling of new construction with its sterile landscaping, cookie cutter homes so close together you can reach out your window and touch your neighbors is what appeals to you, I’ll save you some precious time and let you know now this is not the home for you.

However, if you are looking for a solidly built home in a beautiful well-established neighborhood and growing and very desirable area, then allow me to present to you 7115 Harvest Grain Dr.

Eighteen years ago, Mr and Mrs. Jackson were looking to build a home that would afford their growing family the space they needed to raise their children and create many cherished family memories. They had an idea of what they wanted that home to look like. They knew they wanted it to be so well built that it would be standing strong many years into the future. The timeless beauty and low maintenance of brick was their choice. A southern house couldn’t be a home without a front porch for some rocking chairs and so they had to have that.

A wide foyer would give plenty of space to decorate for the holidays and they envisioned how beautiful the Christmas decorations would look. And off the foyer they’d have wide doorways to the formal dining room which would be large enough to fit an eight chair set to accommodate family celebrations and gatherings. The gathering could easily spill into the kitchen with its bright sit-in-area.

They wanted their home to be the gathering spot for their children and their friends. A large family room with doors opening to a screened porch would fit the bill perfectly. The corner stone fireplace would provide warmth for cozying up on cool nights.

An abundance of light was important to them because they knew natural light is a mood enhancer so they went for French doors and tall windows in the family room and more tall windows in the kitchen and dining room.

They wanted a floor plan that would have them on the same floor as their children’s bedrooms but still wanted some distance and privacy so they chose the split bedroom plan. Their huge master bedroom would be on one side of the house while their children’s rooms would be on the other end of the house. Since raising young children leaves one needing some serious relaxation they knew they’d need a large jetted tub in the master bath for those days when Mrs. Jackson would need to soak for hours. A separate stand up shower would be also called for as there were sure to be days when jumping in and out the shower would be required. A separate water closet would provide extra privacy in the master bath.

And since small children usually means dirty floors, they would absolutely HAVE to install a central vac system to make easy work of sweeping up after kiddies.

On the same end of the house as the master suite would be the laundry room with cabinets and a folding table to make the drudgery of laundry more tolerable. They also thought a half bath at this end would be ideal for guests. There would be no need for guests to ever use the bathroom on the other end which would serve the children’s bedrooms.

The children would enjoy having their bedrooms on the other end of the house away from mom and dad’s scrutiny. And they’d really appreciate not having to share their bathroom with guests.

When the Jacksons considered how they could further add warmth to their home-to-be, they loved the idea of the warm tones that wood trim throughout the house would provide. Yes! Every room, even the bathrooms, would benefit from the beautiful rich wood trim and molding.

Mr and Mrs Jackson loved having family and friends over and so they wanted their new home to be able to have the space for folks to stay over and yet have their very private space. What would do that better than a spacious guest suite upstairs? A bedroom with full closet, full bath and its own sitting area.

They then began to contemplate the exterior of the home. What would the grounds look like? Of course, there would have to be a lovely curvy walkway from the garage to the front of the home to make one feel as if they were following the yellow brick road in The Wizard of Oz. Since the Jacksons purchased two lots on which to build their home they knew they would have lots of grass to maintain so they decided they would definitely need an irrigation system. They’d have to go BIG with this system to maintain all that grass lush. Yes, they would have to have nine zones and each zone would need at least 7 sprinkler heads. And of course, a separate well just for the irrigation system. Wouldn’t want momma having low water pressure if she’s showering while the sprinkler system is running!

They’d also plant shrubs of different colors. Reds, greens, and yellows to add a pop of color to their curb appeal.

Even with what would be an oversized garage, the Jacksons knew they’d have need for storage space. Would they buy your run-of-the mill shed/workshop? Absolutely not! They wanted to be able to enhance the look of their home so they decided they would build an all brick detached single garage and run electricity to it.

So, after all that planning the Jacksons built their home, just as they had envisioned!! They were very happy in their tranquil Stedman neighborhood with wide streets and only one way in and out.

Some years later, as is the case with many families, one of their parents had to move in with the Jacksons. Their oldest child had moved up to the suite upstairs and Mrs. Jackson’s mom was able to have the second bedroom downstairs. At this time, a wheelchair accessible full bathroom was added on to that bedroom. The Jacksons felt her mom would enjoy the porch area and decided to enclose that area into a fully heated and cooled sunroom. This room is full of lovely natural light and is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the outdoors in the comfort of inside.

An added covered carport provides protection from the elements for other family members’ vehicles or maybe even a boat!

So, what happens after you’ve created your cherished memories raising your children and they are grown and have moved out to start their lives? Then you have more home than you need. The Jacksons are ready to pass on the baton to another family that is looking for a well-built home with plenty of space to accommodate gatherings, celebrations, stay overs and desires a small neighborhood. If this is you or someone you know, please have them give us a call and we’ll introduce them to 7115 Harvestgrain Dr, Stedman NC 28391.
